A Weekend with Just Mama & Baba

This is the first weekend in a looooong time that we've had just to ourselves. We spent most of Saturday at home, taking care of neglected chores and playing with Ellie. Since it was so hot ourside, we dressed her in a cute little cap sleeve outfit courtesy of a couple of aunties from up north.

Since Ellie's become really good at holding her head up during tummy time, we introduced a game that Mama used to play with Uncle David and Jesse: Airplane!

On Sunday Ellie barely squeezed into the little dress Grandma & Aunt Meiya bought us from Bali. We put her on the couch to take a picture and she flashed us! We hope this isn't going to become a habit!

Popular Weekend

We were quite popular this past weekend. Uncle David dropped by for a surprise visit. We had not seen him since our one month birthday, so we had a lot of catching up to do.

Aunt Meiya also stayed with us this weekend. We were all dressed up to go to church in our new outfit (which we are quickly growing out of).

Every morning Ellie would wake up, go through a series of stretches (not unlike a cat) and break into a big smile and gurgle - as if to say, "Good Morning Mama & BaBa." No matter how rough the night was, this little morning routine lights up our morning and casts away all weariness, frustrations and fatigue.

 The best thing about being a girl is all the adorable outfits! We're good friends with Giraffe-E (a gift from Aunt Meiya). Ellie thinks Giraffe-E is real and talks to him all the time.

Ellie's definitely daddy's little girl! She always has the most to say to Will. She'll just babble and babble - she's such a flirt!

Ellie's able to keep her head up most of the time during tummy time now! She loves her new play mat and has discovered new sights and sounds by kicking her feet and moving her hands.

This isn't Ellie's first bath, but she's definitely starting to enjoy bath time a little more. So less of this...

She laughed!

Today was the first time Ellie intentionally laughed! I say 'intentionally' because she's been laughing in her sleep since she was born...go figure! We always wonder what she's dreaming that is so funny. We weren't able to capture the first laugh on video, but she did laugh again later in the evening.

We brought Ellie to a nearby park for a stroll one afternoon when the weather wasn't too hot or cold. We thought she might sleep through the whole thing, but she eventually woke up and was fascinated by all the colors, sounds and lights around her. She looked a little startled some of the time, but slowly became accustom to her surroundings.

I can't believe it's been over 2 months already...

I meant to keep posting regularly...really I did! But I was completely caught off guard by how sleep deprived and overwhelmed I felt. My boss put it very well, "You can never really explain to someone the work involved, and the complete exhaustion involved in raising a baby."
