Ellie's First Cold

We are one sick family... I can't figure out who gave what to whom, but the end result is we're all a little sick. Ellie has been very congested (sinus) and had a runny nose for the past few days. Thankfully, it started on Friday, so we were able to deal with it over the weekend. I'm hoping it won't last too long...although from what I read colds usually last for about 2 weeks. Poor Ellie :(

She's a little trooper though. Other than having trouble breathing through her nose when she's trying to sleep, she's the same happy baby she usually is. I just wish I could make her feel better; I hate seeing her uncomfortable.

Glimpse into the life of a SAHM (stay at home mom)

I get MLK Jr Day off, so I get to spend the ENTIRE day with Ellie. Yay!! Our day started at around 8am, but Ellie probably woke at 7:30am. She usually talks to herself when she first wakes in the morning. It's a beautiful sound to wake up to :)

After getting dressed and finishing her bottle, Ellie has so quality time with her Uncle David while mama here gets ready for the day. We decide to go out for brunch and head out the door around 10:30am. On the way to and from Portos, Ellie does one of her cat naps on the car. Uncle David & Jesse go out to meet up with one of their friends, so mama and Ellie get to play together.

I'm exhausted at this point and hope she gets sleepy soon. No such luck. Ellie's a bundle of energy (did someone put speed in her milk?!) and she happily bounces away in her jumperoo while I try to catch up on some chores and email. I try to put her down for a nap but she was having none of it. I resign to the fact that I probably won't get to nap any time soon, so I down a cup of coffee. We go back and forth between the jumperoo and her play mat until, finally, she starts showing signs of needing her nap. It has been almost 4 hours since her last nap!!

I put her in her crib, and after another 30 minutes of rolling over, crawling backwards, getting stuck, and sitting up (with my help), she finally starts drifting to sleep listening to Horsea.

Sigh...I should nap too, but Uncle David & Jesse will be home soon. If this is what it's like to be a SAHM, it's WAY harder than working outside of the home.

Ellie's new trick

Ellie's started to make great progress towards crawling. She's figured out how to get traction with her feet and stick her butt up in the air. During her nap time, she had trouble falling asleep because she kept pushing herself onto her knees! Unfortunately, this means 1. She usually ends up very grumpy and crying because she really wants to sleep 2. She pushes herself backward and gets frustrated because she's really trying to go forward.

And as you can hear from the video, she's really into babbling now. She's moved beyond talking with her mouth closed ("MMmmmmMMmmMMMMmmmmmm") to fun sounds and razzes. She also has started responding to her name.

Whoo Hoooo!!!! 11 hours!!

That's right! For the first time EVER, Ellie slept 11 hours straight! I'm practically jumping up and down for joy! I hope this is the start of no more night wakings and we can actually get some real sleep! We'll keep you all posted!

We're on to solids!

We got the green light from Ellie's pedi to start solids - finally! We've been looking forward to introducing solids to her. We've already introduced the spoon to her by feeding her some formula via spoon. But it'll be fun to see her reaction to the different textures of food.

Never eat salads at the mall!

It looks like both Will and I have food poisoning. Serves us right for trying to eat healthy at the mall. We got a chicken salad from this chicken place last night. Will thinks they didn't wash the lettuce. He started feeling it first late last night. I felt it this morning since I only had a few bites of the salad.

Thankfully it's the weekend, so we can just relax at home and ride this out.

On top of it all, Ellie had her 6 month check up yesterday, so she's been clingy ever since. It's going to be a long weekend...
