Growing up so fast!

Ellie's 4 month birthday was this past Tuesday! I can't believe how fast she's grown and how time just whizzes past. She's not only grown physically, but I think also in maturity. She understands a whole lot more and seems to respond with her own words and expressions.

Mama loves to buy Ellie toys - with the intention of stimulating her mentally of course! The seahorse, or "Horsea" (Pokemon fans will recognize & appreciate the name) was highly recommended by moms from TheBump (an addition of mama's) and is supposed to help babies sleep by themselves. Uh...yeah...we'll see about that. Right now she seems to be more amused than sleepy and wants to munch on any part she can get in her mouth.

Ellie also loves to laugh now! It's such a joy to hear her giggles, chuckles and screeches as we do all sorts of silliness to make her keep laughing.

Ellie rolled over unassisted for the first time! She has been practicing for a few days and finally was able to roll all the way onto her tummy. Of course by the time I realized what she was doing it was too late to capture it! I'll post a video the next time I'm lucky enough to catch it.

...NEWS UPDATE...

I was preparing to post this tonight, but Ellie decided she wanted to show the world how well she rolls over! And we got it on tape! (Please ignore the screaming and yelling by the adults around her)

And in other news...

She's figured out how to suck her thumb! I'm sure I'll regret this when she's a little older, but for now it's just so cute!

I love the squishy noises she makes when she's chomping & sucking away.

Ellie's got yet another "toy" to play with. A jumpy activity center we borrowed (again) from Sophi. She LOVES it! As soon as she's put in it she goes to town, bouncing around like the little Tigger she is.

Ellie's getting better and better at rolling. She's tried several times to roll onto her tummy, but she doesn't quite have the momentum yet.

According to Grandma Julie, Ellie didn't nap very well today. But I've been trying to postpone her bedtime by a couple of hours so she'd sleep her long stretch of sleep later. So instead of giving her a bath after her 5pm activity time and letting her do her long stretch of sleep then, we tried sleeping on our tummy (supervised of course) and on our side, but eventually did most of our napping swaddled and on our back - the way she likes it. But she still didn't sleep for very long - her usual 30 minutes. Then she lost her pacifier and had a hard time going back to sleep. It was getting close to 7pm anyway, so I fed her and we did our bedtime routine: bath with the music playing in the background, get into our PJs, saying goodnight to grandma and then super swaddled for bedtime. Ellie was already overtired from her lack of naps, so we skipped story time and went straight to bed. We'll see if this later bedtime will help her sleep till 2am or 3am, thus eliminating one night time feed. Keep you fingers crossed!

Ellie has started on the journey to rolling over! She's figured out how to roll on  to her side and sometimes is able to flip onto her tummy!

Ellie's gotten really good at sitting! She spend lots of time in her Bumbo (borrowed from Sophi jie jie) playing with our toys. She also loves chewing on Sophi the giraffe (also courtesy of Sophi jie jie!).

Fashion show

Mama bought Ellie these new onesies almost a month ago. Ellie grew so big so fast that she fits into them perfectly now!

New and exciting

Ellie got a new toy this week: Freddie the Firefly! He's got all sorts of fun things attached to him like mirrors, a squeaky toy, a fuzzy ball and more! Ellie seems to like it

She's started to try to push herself on her hands during tummy time.

She's also started to grab and put things in her mouth.

Our little Ellie isn't so little anymore
